Houminmin
Houminmin is a singer, songwriter, and producer from Beijing and Inner Mongolia, China. She graduated from Berklee College of Music, where she studied Vocal Performance and Contemporary Writing & Production (CWP), and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Music Technology at New York University Steinhardt.
As a versatile vocalist, Houminmin performs across a wide range of genres, with a distinctive focus on Neo Soul, Jazz, and R&B. Her vocal style is expressive and groove-driven, influenced by Hiatus Kaiyote and Erykah Badu. She blends Neo Soul phrasing with smooth, fluid melodies. Her voice sits forward, creating an intimate and direct feel, with a light touch of twang that adds a unique edge while preserving warmth and depth.
During her time at Berklee, Houminmin has participated in numerous live performances, gaining extensive stage experience and developing a strong connection with audiences through her dynamic and expressive presence.
As a topliner and poet, Houminmin crafts melodies and vocal lines that are both memorable and emotionally engaging. As a producer, she creates music across Neo Soul, House, and R&B, focusing on electronic production and the shaping of unique sonic textures.
Alongside music, Houminmin also works as a photographer, with a focus on portrait photography and visually driven storytelling. Her visual style moves between Y2K-inspired aesthetics, naturalistic imagery, and more abstract, atmospheric compositions. She is drawn to softness, texture, light, and emotional ambiguity, creating images that feel intimate, dreamy, and quietly surreal.
Deeply engaged in the study of aesthetics across sound and image, Houminmin approaches creative work with a strong sensitivity to visual language and atmosphere. She is particularly skilled in designing posters for live performances, creating visual identities that reflect the mood, energy, and emotional tone of each event. Purple often appears as a signature color in her work, tracing the contours of an image with softness, intimacy, and a subtle sense of mystery.
